Stir Crazy!

While I am stuck indoors for most of the day yet again (thank you sassy Spring storm!) I've decided to take advantage of more blogging time:) Earlier today, David and I tried to make a snow man in the yard:

But no dice. My snowman making expertise says: too dry:( That didn't stop David from throwing a bunch of snow at me. Such a charmer, that man!

I took the opportunity to muddle up our pristinely snow-covered lawn by trecking through it to spell an I heart you in the yard for my honey:
(and all the helicopter students and planes that fly past our house to the airport over the hill!)

We wanted to take advantage of the huge storm and yesterday it never stopped blizzarding so today was our short-lived play-date.

Obie had fun eating snow, it was all over is face of course, until I tried to get a picture!

On another note, one of my best friends awarded me a Kreativ Blogger:)
(no bias I'm sure;)

The Rules:

When given the award you list 7 things that you love, and then pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you love! Be sure to tag them and let them know that they have won. You can copy the picture of the award and paste it on your sideboard letting the whole world know...you are Kreativ.

1 - My number one love is Life! I know this encompasses a LOT so I will elaborate on 6 more of my favorite things under the life umbrella below. I am just loving the simple things, and trying each day to deserve this blessed life!

2 - My family. This is such an easy one. I am trying to figure out what I did to deserve to spend my life with such a wonderful family. I love my family so very much, I have decided to start my very own!! Me, the love of my life, David, and our many fur-babies:) Can I also say how unbelievably lucky I am to have such a wonderful new extension to my family in the Ellis'. You guys are a serious blessing!

3-Going Green! Much to the annoyance of those near and dear to me I'm sure! I LOVE  trying to take care of our beautiful earth in any small or large ways I can! And I KNOW  David is loving the recycled toilet paper that may or may not have sand in it, yet somehow you can still read through in dim lighting.

4-Animals!! Words cannot express my love for animals. They are the ones that steal my heart the easiest!

5-Being creative!! whether that means crafts, painting, decorating, or (sigh) fashion! Creativity is the icing AND cherry on top of cake that is life:)

6-Travelling. You cannot put a price on seeing what the world has to offer!

7-Learning. I hope to learn and learn and learn until my brain bursts!

My Kreativ 7:

Kelsey-Authentically Me

Nikki- Loving Every Second

Pocket Full of Pink

Christina- This Girl's Life

Allison- From A to Z

Jessica- An Atlanta Bride

The Preppy Polka Dot

Thanks Gina! Hope everyone had a fab weekend!

Time for a Blizzard!

No, I'm not talking about the kind you eat at Dairy Queen when the weather is nice in Spring and Summer.
This:

Is what Denver woke up to this morning. If you can't tell, God has sent us a snow-globe glorious BLIZZARD! I say glorious because A: I don't have to commute in it:) and
B: We haven't had much of this fluff this year and it is greatly needed for our green grass and pretty flow-fees!
Although I really am enjoying this short-lived winter style wonderland (we're supposed to get at least another foot today!) I am planning for the wonderful weeks ahead!! Hopefully with more April showers, than white-outs BRRRRR!

One holiday I've looked forward to since I was a little girl is Easter. My grandma used to make my cousin Melissa and I matching outfits complete with white stalkings, patent mary janes, and a straw hat! Then she would put a whole dollar (jackpot!!) in a plastic egg, and chocolates in all the other eggs, and have a hunt in her backyard. Everyone who was anyone (in my 6 year old mind) was in attendance ;)
Well, I'm not two feet tall anymore, but I still look forward to all the fun and dressing up in cute hats and pastel outfits resembling an Easter egg! Here is a little something Easter inspired.

Scenario

I'm avoiding all the usual Monday tasks in lieu of writing about one of my fav topics: fashion:)
For as long as I can remember, I have come up with a scenario for pieces of clothing or outfits I put together as I shop (I think I got it from my mom....yes. I did.)
For example, I would see a dark wash denim cuffed capri and say "ohhhh! that would be perfect next time I go to the beach and it is overcast!" (keep in mind I'm land-locked so beach outings are infrequent). Or you can often catch me saying "this cotton-spandex blend dress was just made for my next plane trip/fat day!" and one of my favorites, which my friends and family are probably really tired of hearing "these scarves and bikinis and white cable-knit sweaters and topsiders will be perfect for my yacht!" (I have no yacht, but I will;)
It's basically a process I go through each time I go shopping that warrants me getting whatever I fall in retail-love with, however far-fetched my scenario is:)

I definitely wouldn't mind being caught in a Spring drizzle in this ensemble!

Entertaining 101

Company coming into town you say?
Do what I do!
Try to convince them to want to do alllll the things that you want to do in your city...
but never get the chance
or feel it is too touristy...
or irresponsible....
the result?
I think we all had a great time:)
And Dave and I were sad to see Ashley (David's sis)Pat(a BFF)and Krystal(another BFF and Pat's wife) go home!!

First stop: Brewery tours in Fort Collins (which I might have left out the fact beforehand  that I was also going to drag everyone through my old college campus and sorority house and other old haunts)
What can I say? I was typsy and my posse was obliging:)

Next Stop:  we proceed to Boulder to take in the sights and "nightlife". I quote this because I took everyone to a billiards bar that I raved about beforehand. This might have changed everyones opinion of me FOREVER. Why? oh no reason, my guest just probably now think that I dig bars full of 45+ drinkers with no inhibitions dancing to 80's music. No joke. At least I got to eat a lot of cherries at the bar... we decided to call it a night after that.
Next Day: Sight seeing downtown. My personal highlights? The big blue bear looking in the convention center, overhearing Pat say to the girls in a low voice "that guy looks important" and then me turning around tour guide style "note former Governor Owens and his minion passing (as I swing my arm around as if I am showing furniture on The Price is Right), and lunch with my brother and his (girl)friend (whom he just bought a rose haired tarantula for...what?!)
Next Stop:  Get David from the airport!!! Then yummy din with my fam and our Texas buddies.
Next Stop:   Home:) some guitar playing and blue moon.

Last day: Eaaaaarly morning. A full day of tubing and snowboarding in Keystone and cheesy pizza in Breckenridge. Now I want that pizza...
It snowed for Pat and Krystal, which I was so pleased because I knew how much they wanted to see it and play in it:)

We miss you guys!!!
Now it's back to the daily grind and on to planning our next vacation!!!

Today was the perfect day to do a little of this. Colorado has had a mild winter, but I'm ready for Spring!

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Just what is it about Sundays that...I don't know, give me everything short of an engraved invitation to just laze around doing whatever I please? I could be cleaning the house top to bottom and doing David's laundry for the love of it (HA!) or be watching the Girls Next Door marathon followed by the John and Kate Plus 8 marathon (what? they even each other out:) but the point is, no matter what I'm doing, it's what I want to be doing guilt free! Today my agenda was fabulously everything I never knew I needed it to be. I woke up after sleeping for 12 hours (I recommend this on occasion if at all possible) I never get to sleep like that and I had been needing good rest for a couple weeks now, after midnight dog messes, having a great time with our company (I will post about that when I get pics!) and celebrating St. Patty's day like I was Irish and back in college, this 12 hours of sleeping like the dead might have saved my life!
HEHEHAHAHO!
Due to this new found love of my bed (who am I kidding, I ALWAYS love my bed) anyway, we missed church, which bummed me out because I absolutely LOVE our church we started going to!!! It's so great because David is Christian and I was raised Catholic, so this church is a great happy medium that we both are ecstatic about going to!! Instead today though, I decided to have chocolate chip pancakes at our house with God. It was nice:)
Then I was a cleanin Bee while David disappeared all day-something about finding me protection while he is out of town?...Hours of primping and laundry later, my sugar bun arrives home with a long box "with my name on it;)" what was this gift, you ask??
Oh            Just a flibberty-jippen RIFLE LOOKING THING!
yuck, it's actually a 12-gauge shotgun, obviously, just looking at me, don't I just scream shooter? So, I totally appreciate he is worried about me while he is gone, but the thing is freakin me out!! Now he has to take me somewhere legit to learn to use it. Scary. And he got me a pink Beretta hat, so I totally look the part.
After I was through giving him the stink-eye for giving me such a gift (he could have gotten me very cute shoes for that price!) we moved on to putting together Eva's new PALACE! It's the cutest crate that I hope she loves- because it might spare me my sanity for training and sleeping! and is so cute and spacious and cuddly:)
Night's agenda: simple and sweet. David bringing Quiznos and watching Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. cute. highschool cute. but very cute. David leaves town again tomorrow so I'm gonna button this up. Have a great week love bugs!

Brunch

This is going to be a quick post. I'm getting ready for out of town guests! Life has been hectic lately and all about dogs, sick dogs, and running around working and such. This is why a Sunday brunch was just what the doctor ordered. I might have had a serious quarter life crisis, had some of my girlfriends not come over for bellinis, mimosas, and a delish brunch:) We also managed to squeeze in my favorite thing~ CRAFT TIME! We like to pretend we are Martha Stewart-chic hybrids from time to time. Then we actually finish our crafts...and we (Me for sure) are reminded that some things are better left to Martha. Anyhoo, we had a fabulous time dipping plastic eggs in glitter and got to catch up on each other's lives. I still say we could give Home and Garden a run for it's money;)

Whitney,Gina, Amber, and little Eva-bug

eat your heart out Martha

The girls crafting and sipping!

Amber won the glitter-dipping rockstar ribbon.
I will post my eggie nest after it is properly assembled to look like the glitterama mama just layed them that way:)

Serious.Spring.Fever.

Do you ever find yourself being annoyed by a trend and not wanting to buy into it or just thinking it will pass? And it doesn't. OR it keeps coming back to haunt you and before you know it, you own the very thing that irritated you?! I've never done that...(lie).
Middle school: "capri pants are so not going to last more than a season, right Becky?" Becky and I guessed wrong.
High school: "Oh my gosh, does Mandy have on tube socks and go-go shorts? Did I go to sleep and wake up in a bad episode of Three's Company?" It became a norm for a season at good ol' BHS.
College: "Is it me girls, or is everyone starting to look like a Golf pros/tennis hoes party ALL the time?" (I love J. Crew as much as the next girl, but I'm just sayin)
Presently: I hope that girls and boys stop shopping in each other's departments so much. I don't cherish the thought of my boyfriend picking me up for a night out and we're wearing the same jeans...and possibly eyeliner... The saggy- butt and skinny jeans that don't fit over your HUGE skater punk shoes isn't workin for me fellas. Anyhow, C'est la vie. That's life and I do appreciate everyone's personal style, it makes the world much more interesting and colorful!

What was I going to write about...Oh yes! SPRING!

It figures that I decide to exercise restraint and give up shopping for Lent. Because NOW all the spring goodies decide to make an appearance in stores across the land and I am giddy and tortured simultaneously. Just a tad bit of shopping on line couldn't hurt, right? I mean, it is really a blog assignment. :)

Now I just need a vacation so I have an excuse to pack a suitcase full of color:)
