...by The Luckiest Mrs. to do this question survey!
**Warning**Do Not Read While Operating Heavy Machinery**

1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.
2. Tag other un-tagged people.

The Questions:
What is your current obsession? Yachting (I wish-more like wannabe yachting) and researching wedding info for my new baby column :)
What do you think your name says about you? My blog name implies my love for baked goods. And the name Chelsea says soccer to me...and fun loving I hope?
Who was the last person you hugged? David
What’s your favorite dinner? This is tough. An awesome meal for sure would be Liz's pork loin and my mom's new mac 'n cheese recipe. With key lime pie for dessert. But I'm kind of a garbage disposal...so I can't narrow it down to one favorite!
What was the last thing you bought? nonfat caramel latte.
Do you have buyer's remorse? No way jose`!
What are you listening to right now? NBA playoffs
What is your favorite weather? After a spring or summer rain and it's warm enough for a tank and flip flops and the air smells clean and you can smell all the plants :)
What is your least favorite season? The middle of winter-no snow, but still not warm. Just deadness!
What's in your bathroom cabinet? Everything but the bathroom sink! ha I crack me up. lots of bare minerals stuff
Say something to the person/s who tagged you.  She is just as sweet as she is beautiful!
What is your favorite tea flavor? I like unsweetened passion fruit type teas
What did you want to become as a child? A figure skater...and marine biologist. heee! I still want to be those;)
What do you miss? David when he leaves town for work...and life before facebook, when people had to catch up face to face or voice to voice.
What's your favorite brand of jeans?  I love me some Citizens of Humanity!
What's your favorite dessert? I've gotta copy the luckiest Mrs. on this one, good call! But I will add Gelato!!
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? Florence, and I would show David all my spots there!
Who would you want to meet in person? I could pick something profound, but I'll go for fun and say Jack Nicholson.
What is your most challenging goal right now? Coming into my own and finding the balance between working, making a fabulous home for David, and being a fur-mommy.
What’s your 5 year plan? No way! Not even gonna try that, so much can happen in just one year and I love not knowing every step!
Why is today special? I remind myself every day is special (yes, you can have wine with that cheese) It was also special getting a mani/pedi with mom and hangin out having dinner and movies with David <3
What is my favorite sport to watch? Hockey. But football is growing on me.
To play? golf and tennis. I'm not that great but the outfits are!
What is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own? A diamond cross from you guessed it-David.
Now it's your turn!  Hope you play along...I tag:

Bippity.Boppity.Boo.

Ok, I have been more MIA than usual lately, just lots going on I guess. It feels like everyone is springing (no pun intended) back to life now that the warm weather is breezing in like a breath of fresh air!

So, one of the things that has been taking up more time lately is writing. Only this time, I'm getting paid for it!! Crazy!! Ok before I ask you to go check it out (because I would love love love for you to check it out and read it too!) I must warn you. I'm a fibber. You see, one of the only columns they were hiring for was Bridal-style. And they need credible, knowledgeable writers. Problem a) I'm not married b)I am not a bride- to- be c) I have never been so bold as to think I should be paid to write EVER. But alas, here I am with the bridal-style column. They think I'm engaged. Biggie you ask? I think not. Most girls out there can relate to me when I say I have been picturing my big day and love of my life since I wore jellies. So I'm pretty credible. AND I've been a bridesmaid, that's got to count for something right? AND I  love shopping. So it seems like a happy marriage with me and the column. Wish me luck and PLEASE  check it out and let me know what you think!!  Have a fabulous Friday you lovely people you!

P.S. Thank you BFF Gina for the Friendship award! I love you and I will post it next :)

Bright Lights, Big Ass

Yesterday marked the first meeting of my book club! We read Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster, author of Bitter is the New Black. BTW- totally recommend them! Hilarious. Anyhoo, it was so great to get together with friends and have a completely fresh topic of conversation, and I just think reading anything is great for your mental health. Now, I totally spaced taking photos of all the girls, and they all looked so great! It was a theme party and the author is an ex-sorority girl and totally owns it! So of course, the theme had to be sorority get-up! (actually this was a bit too easy for us, half our closets probably look like sorority costumes!)

I did get a few photos of the decorations before the meeting. I am seriously pinchin Abe Lincolns this month, but I did want the atmosphere to actually feel like something fun was going to go down, not just the usual. So what else could I do but go to town with scissors, paper, and glitter?! (this started early, as I recall begging my teachers to let me help them redecorate the classroom several times a year...)

I almost forgot, Amber got me Sprinkles cupcake mix because we don't have the bakery and I am obviously in love with cupcakes and wanted to try one. I made the vanilla cupcakes in precious rubber cupcake liners that David's mom Liz got me for my b-day, and they were a success! Buttery, dense goodness. My butt thanks you Amber:)

Lastly, the sun was out today and it has been a great day! Hope it is the same for all you lovelies!!

Run for the Roses

SO- I'm going to pretend that it isn't blizzarding the wettest mess of snow I can remember on this 17th DAY OF APRIL!!! And, I am going to focus on something Spring-y that makes me happy and hopeful that one day, I can pack away my UGGs for at least a few months.

I don't know about you gals, but most of my days are pretty ordinary, which is totally fine. Just a lot of running around in my casual duds, doing unremarkable things. I am most likely to be sipping a diet cherry limeade from SONIC  and wearing a baseball cap. So when an opportunity arises to get all prettied up in flow-y dresses and big hats while sipping mint juleps, I? Am all over that like LV's on a Louis bag.

May 2nd is one such occasion, which happens to be...The Kentucky Derby! In Denver, at the Botanic Gardens, a fabulous Derby Party takes place full of betting, pretty drinks, and BIG BODACIOUS BOTANICAL HATS!

This morning, my friend Taylor asked if I might be interested in spicing up some hats so to speak, for some extra green if ya know what I mean ;) I immediately went bonkers for the idea and visions of feathers, pearls, birds, and flowers have been swimming around my head ever since! And now I am on a mission to assemble the most beautiful hats, ever to be worn to a Kentucky Derby soiree:) Most of all, it is just such a great opportunity for everyone to have fun and involve fasion!
Something I might wear to make my bets!

with this little number
What other ladies have worn:

Mint Julep recipe:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • Sprigs of fresh mint
  • Crushed ice
  • Early Times Kentucky Whisky
  • Silver Julep Cups

Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

A brief history a la the oh so reputable wikipedia:

The Kentucky Derby is a Grade I stakes race for three year-old thoroughbred horses, held annually in Louisville, Kentucky, on the first Saturday in May, capping the two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival. The race is one and a quarter miles (2 km) atChurchill DownsColts and geldings carry 126 pounds (57.2 kg) and fillies 121 pounds (54.9 kg).[1] The race is known in theUnited States as "The fastest Two Minutes in Sports" for its approximate duration, and is also called "The Run for the Roses" for the blanket of roses draped over the winner. It is the first leg of the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing and is followed by the Preakness Stakes then the Belmont Stakes.

Thanks for listening to my tidbits today, hope everyone is doing well and TGIF, whether you're in the snow, or in the sun!

Another Doozy!

Man-oh-man. What a weekend I've had!! Again!
Yesterday, April 13, happened to be the day marking my birth in 1984! It also happened to be the day that marked my sweet David's birth in 1979!! Yes.Yes. That means that I am now a member of the quarter century club, as my friend Ana affectionately refers to it. And David is 30!!(and wearing it well:)

Our shananigans naturally started friday, where we went to dinner to celebrate with friends. As usual when I make it downtown, I am tipsy halfway through my first glass of wine and luckily (or not so lucky for the tables around us) brought my "big-girl laugh". You know, the one that holds nothing back, and once you've seen the look in the eyes of those around you and you rewind the laugh, you wish you could scale it down hehe! Anyway, that was boatloads of fun and I got to practice my couture cake making skills with David's red velvet UT cake!

Missy,David, and Taylor showing off Gina's cupcake favors!

Right after a "big-girl laugh" I presume...

Erin and I!

Gina, me, and Ana :)

Saturday, I spent frosting Easter cookies and then out again to celebrate our births with family! I stuffed my self at Hacienda, and hope to do so again soon, now that I think of it! (can you tell I stretched the bday celebrations a bit? Friday through Monday? works.for.me.

David and I blowing out allllllllllll the candles!

Sunday, however, WAS Easter! And alllll about Jesus saving all of us, and being resurrected. We went downtown to a beautiful mass at the Holy Ghost and soaked up all God's love!! (and the smell of lillies!)

Photo-op!

Tequila's Easter Polo!
Of course, to help express my love for God and Jesus Christ, I felt it necessary to eat and eat and eat all the goodness my mom and I had prepared. I also got a pretty fabulous easter basket (never too old...) including chocolate bunnies, starburst jellybeans (my fave) a mermaid Barbie (barbies are a tradition) and lots of green things for my green-striving lifestyle!
Are you still with me? :)
Monday, finally our Birthday!!
My dad arranged a night at the Stanley Hotel in Estes complete with a ghost tour for David and I. Totally up our alley. I got NO sleep because we were on a floor known to be haunted by children. Every little bump in the night, I shook David "did you hear that?!" It was a really great night away in a beautiful historic hotel and we needed the fresh air!

Did I mention I LOVE  this place?!
In the Stanley

Outside the Stanley
Whew! One more.
TODAY, David's brother and sister in-law Josh and Suzi, had a healthy precious baby girl! Parker Layne. We are all so happy for them! Needless to say, it's been quite an eventful April!
I am still pretty sleepy coming down from our ghost hunting, so I will go for now, but had too much to share!! Hope everyone else had a great Easter and a fab week to come!

What a Weekend!

Since my last post it has been a crazy weekend!
Not more than an hour after Deanna and I got manis and pedis, she called me to say "So...I'mtotally engaged!" We had a feeling it was coming over the weekend, but Gavin wanted to surprise her, and I think he pulled it off! I will try to post pics of that later. I'm SO excited for you guys, and nice job on the ring G-dawg ;) We celebrated late into the night and early the next morning, my mom and I left for Houston to have a girls weekend with David's mom Liz.
I was sad David wasn't able to make it out with us, but we had such a packed weekend full of fun and friends!! I told Liz that Texas is doing something right because they have such an incredible group of friends that are more like family and just a pleasure to hang with :) I successfully ate my way through the weekend and am just now coming out of a blissful food-coma.
The weekend was full of 1)sight seeing 2)meals with friends 3)LOTS of chatting 4) Day trip to Galveston (which is bouncing back from hurricane Ike) and 5) shopping!!
This weekend was MUCH needed. Thank you Liz and Butch for spoiling us this weekend!! We miss you all already:)
Some history of Sugarland. So cute.

Holy giant shrimp Batman!

Icky!! The giant shellfish do add to the coastal charm though!
Collecting shells:) (my hair does not often get along with humidity!)

My mom, Liz, and Liz's Bff Gwen showing Ike's water line at the strand.
Aren't they cute:)

Me, my nautical outfit, and my (one-day) boat!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Big smooches to you all:)

spoiled

So today I have a girl date with one of my sistahs from anotha mistah, oh I crack myself up.
Anyhoo, D asked me if I wanted to go to this great newish place at Stapleton, because we don't get to see each other as often as we'd like because she is a jet-setter for GE. AND maybe because I'm a soon to be birthday girl and she will miss the bday shindig:(  BUT I am so super stoked, it is sooo cute!! What will we be getting into you ask??
