6 month mark

February 14 is a special day for David and I, not because it's Valentine's day...

but it also happens to be our 6th month anniversary of MARRIAGE :)

I want to share with you a tiny glimpse into the story of Us
This is the first photo I ever had of my husband. It was the night we met, and I never thought I'd see him ever ever again. So. I made him pose with my friend/date to the wedding we met at, and pretended it was so I could test my nighttime setting. ha! I just wanted to have a picture of this complete stranger for some reason...

I would never in a million lifetimes have guessed that I
would one day have a moment, a photo of this significance with this person.

She is my reason for meeting my companion for life the night this very photo was taken.
I think I owe you Anne ;)

It wasn't long before I realized I wasn't going to let a few states determine our destiny!
This was my first trip to Sugar Land to visit David and meet the whole family!
fast-forward 8 months and some change, David moved to Colorado, taking more of a leap of faith than I had any right to ask.
A year later we were engaged!
And we have our share of silliness together :)

And he probably has more patience with me than Mother Theresa.

When I saw what a nurturing fur-daddy he was...

And when he was my rock through the decline and loss of my precious Grandpa,
And I was there through the loss of his Grandma...

I knew I was lucky to be sharing a birthday with this man for
a ridiculous amount of years to come.

 I love you David E!

Here's to a hundred more 6 month anniversaries with you :)

xoxo

Did Mrs. Wang sell her soul?

okay, a bit melodramatic. But when you work in the bridal industry and hear dirt like this from others like me {melodramatic} you can't help but get wrapped up in it for at least 45 seconds!

I love my job. And with this, have grown a great appreciation for the very talented designers in this crazy industry.

my favorite gown in the shop right now: Farrah by Vera Wang
I love the organza layers, how it moves, the blush color, the blooms shaped by folds of fabric at the bottom (which you can't see in this pic)...
We heard from Vera's company that she was going to sell a few of her gowns in Priscilla of Boston's around the country...just a sort of test run/different target market. Not ideal for us/the experience we try to offer brides, but not the end of the world. THEN we discovered Vera has in fact designed a much more affordable line for David's bridal called Vera Wang White. David's bridal own's Priscilla of Boston, so not a huge surprise here either. I feel mixed emotions. I think any bride should be able to wear a beautiful dream dress without plopping down 7,000. But I'd just hate to see the quality of such a beautiful design suffer with poor materials and assembly.I mean, how many times are you going to buy your wedding gown? Hopefully once. And it should be a special occasion with a night of sleeping on it if necessary, and champagne toasts all around!

I haven't seen the White collection in person, but I have a sneak peak for you!
My favorites from the White collection:

a synthetic version of the Ivanka Trump gown:

Not sure about the top on this one, but the bottom looks lovely

 The real Ivanka:
Another gown from the Luxe line:
Can you see a similarity? It frustrates and excites me all at the same time! If you're engaged, I highly suggest going to check them out when they hit stores in February, but I also recommend you keep in mind that the experience getting your gown is something you will always remember and it should be a beautiful, special event!

Bringing in 2011 with OOTD overload!

Wishing you all a happy and blessed New Year!

I don't know what it is about the new year that always makes me go more OCD than usual, but I have been slowly- but -surely cleaning out our home, room.by.room.
I've noticed I'm trying  to live much more minimally. Lots of bags and boxes for the goodwill, and NOT undoing all the progress I've made by accumulating more clothes/appliances/furniture/bricka-brack!

I said to myself "self? what better time to clean out some outfits-of-the-day that have been accumulating in my photo file?!" It's one of the topics I always love on other blogs :) I really appreciate seeing people that can be creative and practical by mixing inexpensive with higher priced items to pull a great look together! Don't worry, I have a LOT of those cheap items ;)
