Weenie Wednesday!!!...And a word from Obie

A word from Obie, recalled from a convo with the Universe:

"The more you find good in another, Obie, the more you'll find good in yourself."

"No matter what that 'other' is."

The girls are my usual little terrorists! God, of course knew to make them completely and irresistibly adorable, so that they would never have a lonely or scolded moment.

the little things

I've never been a person that really needs reminding to stop and smell the roses. I'm happy by nature, and nature has always made me happy in so many little moments.
This post is not to discount the huge, wonderful events in our lives, but I've been thinking more and more lately, about how all those little things we appreciate lead up to such a spectacular journey!
Just a few of my little things:
~the warmth of the sun on a chillly winter day
~free bread at restaurants. Score!
~a kiss for no reason
~a last minute dinner date with a good friend
~giving or getting a genuine compliment
~the cold side of the pillow
~a glass of good, cheap wine
~having a sweet conversation with a stranger {I made two new friends on the plane home from vegas!!}
~my inner peace right after cleaning the house
~going to take out the trash and finding that David already has!
~a gooth teeth cleaning :D
~pedicures
~a fresh haircut and hilight. See mine from a few days ago!

~Coffee :)
~steam dancing as it rises off the pavement on a quiet morning
~laughing
~the occassional false lashes
~catching your favorite song on the radio, start to finish
~surprising grandpa with dinner two nights in a row :)
~Saying "Fiddle dee dee!"

It's fun to stop and think: what are the little things for you?
Vegas re-cap to come!!

Weeeeenie Wednesday!....And a word from Obie

This weenie Wednesday, the girls wanted to give a bark out to cousin Missa, who needs her weenie and Obie fix :)

Did I mention our fur babies are spoiled? I can't handle those wrinkley puppy lips! Oh and the pot belly!

A word from Obie, as heard from his great grandpa, Greg:
"Be careful when in Las Vegas."
"Why Grandpa?"
"Well...Vegas changes a person."
Does it ever!! It turns you into a fun-aholic ;)
{recap to come when I have a chance to sit and upload pics!}

Vivaaa Las Vegas!

This little beauty is where I will be hanging my bag this weekend:o)

I can already hear Frank Sinatra crooning!
This weekend, David and I are off to Vegas with my parents! This is David's maiden voyage to sin city, so I am thrilled to show him the strip that has never failed to show me an amazing time!

Last time I went with my family, I was probably 13 and it went something like this:
I remember melting the bottoms off my flip flops, the sidewalks were so hot. And getting in trouble when security caught my brother and I trying to use the slot machines! And Siegfied and Roy pre-tiger-attack.
And of course there are the girls trips! So.Much.Fun. This was our last girls trip/Bachelorette party.

Re-cap on wednesday! Happy Valentines/3 day weekend everyone!

Don't be a H8-er!

A few weeks ago, Chad, Zahra, and I participated in the NOH8 photographic campaign downtown. It is basically a silent protest in response to Propostion 8, essentially banning gay marriage in CA. Since the beginning, it has evolved into a campaign spreading the importance of equality like wildfire, as well as bringing hate crimes such as Mathew Shepard to light.
There was food, music, and not to be ignored-drag queens by the dozen. It was a great event that I am proud to have been a part of!
For more information on the campaign, and if it will be coming to your area, click HERE.

Beautiful Zahra:)

Weenie wednesday...And a word from Obie

I want to come back as Peach in another life. All our animals are loved to the brim and more, but Peach is just the happiest little bear cub I've ever seen! Now as usual per weenie wednesday, I have some photos that are probably only interesting to me! But just roll with it...or go get a sandwich and hopefully when you come back, something interesting will be happening on this screen, ha!
Now, I haven't figured out if our kitty, Sabrina, has entirely too much time on her hands, and that's why she is staring at the wall from 3 inches away...
OR
This is her coping mechanism for now living with 3 headstrong dogs :) Meow.
my sun bathing beauty
Clearly, she lives a rough life.
Now, a word from Obie:

Aspects of Life on which you should never compromise:
~Eating carbs. Basically, you will be happier with carbs.
~a good groomer is worth a little extra dough ;)
~Your church. If you're not feelin a certain church, don't stay just for the sake of saying you were in church. Find one that resonates with you! Or maybe another spiritual route is better for you. God knows anyway, so keep it real!
~Us. The dogs. Love our owners, you gotta love us. Simple, yes?
~never underestimate a clean house and a clear mind! Don't compromise by letting your mind and home get cluttered.
~Stick your ground. Even when it is not always well received. If I think a bone isn't stinky enough...I won't eat it! Something is wrong with it. Follow your instincts.

It's okay if you think I'm crazy or maybe have been sniffing glue today...Oh the joys of having a blog and writing whatever I want!
Purple polish update:
Can you tell I'm ready for Spring?! sigh. I'd rather be yachting ;)

No, this isn't a result of me clawing my way through some mint chocolate chip ice cream. Not today, anyway. This is a result of my burnout on all the macabre nail polish from the fall and winter! I usually hit my breaking point around this time every winter and have to take drastic measures to bring a new spring to my icy step! It may be going totally blonde so that I may pretend I just came in from the beach... buying a ridiculous bright fuschia or kiwi colored purse {yup.got em. love em.} but this time? I'm putting candy colors on my fingies and tootsies!!! It's a great gateway color to Spring:)

I wanted mint candy apple from essie, but no luck. Sold out everywhere around here except for the tiny bottles in a pack. But China glaze had a perfect alternative called Re-fresh mint.

next up you ask? Lilacism from essie!

Have a lovely weekend!
