The Un-Oscar Post ;)

In a newsfeed sea of gorgeous dresses and chit chat on the Oscars, I thought I'd be a little un-oscar blip on your blog radar :)

Because it's Monday, and I'm still operating on auto-pilot, my phone photos are going to lead today!
Have you ever done a canvas and cocktails sort of get-together? Friends, paint, drinks....AND A HUGE BILL in many cases! My friend and I decided on our way home from our girl-date "why can't we host our OWN party?!" Cheaper, and we skip the judgement of some stranger/teacher.
I got some paints and canvas and immediately went to work practicing how I will help lead our own class!  Pictures to come after the party :)
Now a completely unrelated topic: it can be a challenge to find a flat that is as chic as it is comfortable! I am on my feet ALL day and literally run all over putting out retail fires all day long :P
Heels are rare at work, which makes my heel collection so lonely :(
I got a few pairs of Toms for Christmas and all though they are unstructured and informal, they are cute and so comfy. And you are helping a barefoot child? SOLD!

This pink ballerina grosgrain pair is my fave right now!

Taking one more A.D.D. detour, this is a gorgeous and delicious blooming tea I had at the Deshanbe tea house in Boulder! A must-see if you are ever in the area. The tea tasted just as good as it looked. As did my orange french toast. Oh, now I'm hungry.
I hope this is a start to a wonderful week for you all!

Cloche to my heart

Y'all~
I'm having a bit of a cloche moment.  A cloche {which is french for bell} is an adorably feminine hat made fashionable in the 20's with it's flirty bell-shaped brim. They're commonly made of felt, but I have my eye on some lighter materials for Spring! What are your thoughts? Any moment's of your own?

60's Dolls

Ever since my mom introduced me to the wonderful fashion of the 60's through her love for the popular series That Girl, and the fabulous Marlo Thomas I have showed some favoritism to the era in my style choices. You can see more inspiration on my Pinterest Board The Art of Dressing.

This calls for a chalkboard moment, no?

One of the shops I merchandised for the company's early Spring floor-set just so happened to be a shop named 60's Dolls. Love

RED Valentino at ShopStyle

Rachel Zoe at ShopStyle

Prada at ShopStyle

Visit an F21 and you'll find a room full of sweet polka dots, peter pan collars, pastels with pops of neon, skinny black pants, bows, shift dresses, and oh- my -word it is sweet :-)

I leave you with an image of my fave 60's inspiration: Brigitte Bardot, of course!

P.S. Does it bother anyone else that the retail industry can never live in the moment season-wise? We're in resort-bikini mode in the industry and lets just say I'm not there yet ;)

Pantone, a company that produces, well, COLOR, has announced the color they have created for 2012. Pantone is essentially the ultimate authority on color....I mean think of a color. Tiffany Blue? Yup. Pantone created and protected it under a private color trademark. Pretty cool, right? As you've probably figured out, Tangerine Tango is the color for 2012, and it has been reflected in the coming fashions! I think it's warm, invigorating and fresh. What do you think? Do you own any tangerine pieces already ?

And in case your home is itching to get in on the trend:

The most focal 'shop' at work is Rustic Cabin. Of course for Fall, fair Isle, shearling, suede, ponchos, distressed and colored denim and corduroy, anorak jackets, plaid, wildlife, and Navajo inspired pieces make up this shop.
*I always recommend going faux when it comes to fur, and even leather and shearling peices. It looks and feels better than ever, and I sleep better at night ;)
